Yes folks, it’s nearly time for the slew of UK music festivals to start kicking off up and down the country….

There are SO MANY of them, which do you choose? Unless you’re already going, you can forget Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds are selling well but maybe you want something different, the chance to combine some of THE finest acts on the circuit today with BREATHTAKING surroundings, well why not take a look at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL?

Boardmasters has been going for a long time, I remember it when it was a surfing competition with a couple of live bands thrown in to keep the beach bums happy at the end of a day watching some of the best surfers in the world carving up the atlantic swell in Newquay. Fast forward quite a few years and the festival itself has become one of the biggest events on the calendar.

Looking back, they have played host to some INCREDIBLE acts such as JAMIROQUAI, SNOOP DOGG, BASTILLE, STORMZY, THE AMAZONS and many many more.

The 2019 event has once again pulled out all of the stops and the lineup is quite simply exhilarating!

THE WU TANG CLAN, FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE AND FOALS will be headlining the three nights and throughout the day, you can enjoy some amazing acts such as JORJA SMITH, FRANZ FERDINAND, IDLES, SLAVES, SLEAFORD MODS, DIZZEE RASCAL, MABEL and THE WOMBATS.

Fancy dancing the night away once the main stage has packed up for the night, fear not as the dance tent will be hosting some of the finest DJ’s and dance acts from around the globe until the wee small hours. There are also a ton of after show parties taking place around the area.

Did I mention that the whole festival takes place overlooking some of the finest beaches on the North coast of Cornwall? There are two stages that you NEED to go and visit when you’re there, firstly, THE VIEW, this features some of the best talented musicians in the world and you can sit back against a hay bale and watch the performers whilst the waves roll in from across the Atlantic right behind the stage. Fancy getting your groove on? well head to THE POINT where DJ’s will be tearing up the place all day and night.

BOARDMASTERS really does have something for everyone, the staff are all super friendly, the facilities are top notch and the food…..please, don’t get me started on the food!

I liken Boardmasters Festival to a BBC ONE BIG WEEKEND event but with a much more diverse range of acts to choose from, the last time I went, I think there were around 8 different stages, some outdoor, some inside tents that can hold thousands of people, all you need to do is to plan your time in order to make sure that you see all of the acts that you want to and have a great time! I bet you good money that you WILL have the best time at the festival and you’ll be booking up for 2020 as soon as you get home!

Here’s some of the lesser known acts that we think you should be checking out at BOARDMASTERS this year….

You may have heard Devon folk rock duo SOUND OF THE SIRENS on Radio 2 or you might have seen them performing live on stage on the anniversary edition of TFI FRIDAY with Chris Evans, well if you did, well done, have a muffin, if NOT, you’ll be able to catch them playing at The Keg & Pasty.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past few years, you will have heard of SLEAFORD MODS, they’re a blisteringly brilliant live act and will be flogging their wares on the Saturday (not sure which stage yet), if you’re heading down to BM 2019, you NEED to catch these guys in action, they truly are a life changing live act!

YAZZY is a pop ballad powerhouse and is definitely an artist you should be checking out this year, she has played some pretty high profile shows in the past including a support slot for none other than PALOMA FAITH at Michael Eavis’s Glastonbury Garden Party last year!

BRONX CHEER are a force to be reckoned with and have enjoyed their prime time slot at THE POINT stage every year since BOARDMASTERS began, they’ll be bringing their unique blend of deep, vocal and tech house music vibes to the masses, just make sure you’re there to witness their set…..
