LIVE: We lift the lid on PLACEBO ahead of their performance at Canons Marsh Ampitheatre in Bristol on June 28th....

Placebo will be performing at the Canons Marsh Ampitheatre in the heart of Bristol on June 28. We have delved deep to unearth some interesting facts about the band, some of their achievements to date and what we think you can look forward to when they take to the stage.

Formed in 1994 by the dynamic duo of Brian Molko (vocals, guitar) and Stefan Olsdal (bass, guitar), Placebo quickly carved out a niche in the music world with their unique blend of androgynous glamour, provocative lyrics, and an unmistakable sound. The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1996, was an instant hit, featuring the iconic single "Nancy Boy," which catapulted them into the spotlight. Placebo's music struck a nerve with the disenfranchised youth of the 90s, offering a voice to those grappling with identity, love, and the complexities of modern life.

Placebo's debut album laid the foundation for their success, but it was their second offering, "Without You I'm Nothing" from 1998, that solidified their status as rock icons. The album, which includes the hauntingly beautiful title track and the hit single "Pure Morning," showcased the band's evolution and depth.

In 1999, the band experienced a career-defining moment when they collaborated with the legendary David Bowie on a re-recorded version of "Without You I'm Nothing." This partnership not only highlighted Bowie's admiration for the band but also introduced Placebo to a broader audience.

Throughout the 2000s, Placebo continued to release critically acclaimed albums, such as "Black Market Music" (2000), "Sleeping with Ghosts" (2003), and "Meds" (2006). Each album brought a fresh perspective, with hits like "Special K," "The Bitter End," and "Song to Say Goodbye" becoming anthems for fans around the world.

In the 2010s, Placebo embraced a more electronic sound with albums like "Battle for the Sun" (2009) and "Loud Like Love" (2013). Despite these shifts, the band's core essence, Molko's distinctive voice and Olsdal's atmospheric bass lines, remained unmistakable.

In 2019, Placebo celebrated their 25th anniversary with a world tour, proving their enduring appeal and energy. This milestone was a testament to their ability to continuously reinvent themselves while staying true to their roots.

When Placebo take the stage at the Canons Marsh Amphitheatre, fans can expect a setlist that spans their extensive career, filled with both timeless classics and new favourites. The venue, known for its stunning acoustics and picturesque setting will provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night of music.

So, get ready, Bristol. Placebo is here to remind us all why they remain one of the most compelling, enduring and relevant acts in rock music.

This is a night you won't want to miss.
